Payment Organization GIRO Bankcard, now owned by SIA-SSB, the main Italian processor.
   
Market Structure OTP, the former state savings bank which dominates the banking sector, is the largest card issuer. It has issued 3.9 million cards in Hungary and an additional 5.7 million in neighbouring countries into which it has expanded.
   
Major Issuers OTP, K&H (KBC Group), MKB (Bayerische Landesbank), CIB (Intesa Sanpaolo).
   
Consumer Finance As with other CEE markets, consumer borrowing has grown strongly. Including mortgage loans for consumption, consumer loans reached HUF 3,078bn (Û11.5bn) in 2008, up 43% on 2007.
