Market Structure

Estonia is the most developed of the Baltic markets and in many respects the most developed of all the CEE markets.

There was 1.4 internationally-branded bank card per capita in 2008; there were 114 card payments per capita, of which 102 were by debit cards. Most cards are debit cards; though credit cards are growing, over 40% are inactive.

Swedbank (formerly Hansabank) and SEB dominate the banking sector.
