Market Structure

CETREL, the interbank payments organization, is the central body in the card payments market. Originally set up to manage the Bancomat POS and ATM infrastructure for Luxembourg banks. SIX Group, the Swiss interbank company, took a 50% interest in CETREL in January 2009.

Card use at the POS in Luxembourg is high. Because of LuxembourgÕs location and economy, a high proportion of transactions are by visitors.
   
Major Issuers Fortis, Dexia, KBC, ING and state-owned Banque et Caisse dÕEpargne de lÕEtat.
