Moldova Market Structure	Of the 15 authorized banks with operations in Moldova, 12 are MasterCard issuers and nine are VISA issuers. Domestic MoldCardSystem cards have been withdrawn from the market. Cash is by far the dominant means of exchange, with credit transfers for corporate payments. Direct debits were launched in 2003; cheques have never been used. Cards issued per capita were 0.23 at end-2010, one-third of the CIS average.
