There were 104 million debit and credit cards by end-2008. Debit cards, accounting for just under 60% of cards in issue, are mainly used for ATM access. Credit cards are used for purchases; cash advances on credit cards are a feature of the market.
Several Turkish banks have formed strategic links with foreign groups, including GE, Citigroup, UniCredit, ING and HSBC. |
